hi

looking for a possible ride to pick up a new (to me) dirt bike. anyone available with a truck or trailer to help pick up a bike in antioch and transport it back to el cerrito?

wouldn't mind stopping by carnegie on the way back for some fun even though it'll likely be 100 degrees.

i'll buy gas/lunch/beer...also looking to tag along with anyone from the east bay with transpo when they go riding.

Gas Prices/Saving Money/Sticking It To The OIl Companies

Approximately one year ago right before I got my DRZ 400 Suzuki. I saw gas prices starting to get ridiculous. At the time I had my '74 Blazer sitting in the garage waiting for repairs, and I was driving a van which was almost at the end of it's life. Since the Blazer gets way less than ten MPG(somewhere between 6 and 8 MPG) I decided that I would finally return to my favorite hobby, Trail Riding and get an economical vehicle at the same time so I bought the DRZ.

It's a Dirt Bike , but in Arizona it's easy to get your dirt bike Street Legal, So I was able to have my cake and eat it. I got transportation that averages better than 50 Miles Per Gallon, and my trail toy all in one package.

If you live here or in a state that allows you to "Plate" your dirt bike do it, and use it instead of your truck at least one day a week or more if possible to get around. This will mean saving you money on gas, and using less gas. If everyone would find ways to cut back on gas consumption it would mean less money for the oil companies that are screwing us at the pumps. The best revenge is to not buy so much gas. You save money and stick it to those greedy bastards that have been sucking us dry at the pumps.

I strongly encourage you to avoid buying as much gas as you can by finding other means of transporting yourself around. This is especially effective for those people that drive a large truck to work every day, just to have it sit in the sun all day waiting to take that one person back home. If enough people did this once or more times a week, we could directly effect the Oil Company's greedy pockets.
Nicaragua, wahoo!!

So, just got back from Nicaragua and it was a blast!! We rented 2 little Scorpion China 125's that were pieces of something.. not sure what.. but they ran and took us all over the 'roads' near San Juan Del Sur. Now, the roads down there are a dirt bikers heaven!! They are pot marked to hell, all dirt, mud, and occasionally rocks, hill climbs, and revolve around a volcanous landscape. We went to Majauel to go surfing the day before.. the waves were pretty big (for me) and closed out really quickley so we didn't get out there with boards at all. It took us over an hour to get there by the truck and with the bikes it took us the next evening less than half an hour! These bikes had next to no suspension and my chain kept coming off, especially up hill which was annoying as hell and S had the good graces enough to switch bikes with me for the remainder of the ride. Got there just in time to see the sun hit the water. Monkee's, parrots, big trees..

Our next leg of our journey was Ometepe, which I will go back to with a bike hands down. We got on mountain bikes which was great.. but the speed....

highly recommended!!

ciao,
Thanksgiving a group of us headed out past Mojave to Jawbone Canyon for dirtbike camping...... holy shit.... crazy fun..... notes..... sand riding is different than dirt riding.....rednecks will shoot guns and attempt drunken hill climbs in pickup trucks at all hours of the night and morning..... Phil Douglas is an excellent tour guide and will either make you a better rider or kill you

I am selling my 1996 rmx 250 (street legal, it has a legit license).

I would like to replace it with a playbike. I am thinking honda XR100. But there are other options. The ttr125 and the klx125 are both tempting as well, they have front disk brakes.

I know the xr100 is totally bullet proof, cheap and commonly used in minbike racing. I would like to get into doing some mini motard ot mini TT races..

Any insights into minibike races....

OT: Looking for housemate in Campbell, CA (house w/ garage)

My roommate bought a townhouse and is moving out soon, so I am looking
for a good roommate for a large house in West San Jose (near Campbell).
Basically, I'm hoping to find a fellow rider/racer that would be
excited to live in a home with garage space for motorcycles, wrenching
on bikes, a safeplace for tools, etc. Plus, this person would get the
Master Bedroom w/full bath (which is pretty large with a huge closet)
plus other rooms. If you or somebody you know is looking for a
'moto-friendly' home, I would very much like meeting him/her.

Following is the ad that I'm placing:
*****************************

Motorcycle friendly roommate wanted to share large home in safe and quiet neighborhood on the border of Campbell located about 1.5 mi away from Westgate Mall. This house offers 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, 1 living room, 1 family room with fireplace, a full kitchen, two car garage, front yard, and large backyard with covered patio. The gardening in the front and rear yards were recently landscaped and are maintained regularly at the expense of the landlord. High speed internet connection available.

Prospective roommate will occupy the following:

-Master bedroom – features a huge wall to wall closet, and attached full bath.
-Spare bedroom/office – includes a large closet
-The Living room is yours exclusively
-Share large kitchen and pantry closet
-Share 1.5 car garage - great for storage, safe motorcycle parking, tools, wrenching, or compact car
-Share covered patio (with gas grill) and large back yard

Hello, my name is Antonio, and I am a 30 year old computer professional who enjoys motorcycle and dirt bike riding and maintenance, BBQ’ing, and several other outdoor activities. I am looking for a financially secure, reasonably tidy person to share this home.

The move in date is July 1st. The prospective roommate’s half of the rent is set at $997.50 per month, due at the beginning of every month. It is paid directly to the landlord. There is also a deposit of $997.50 required prior to move in. The landlords are an extremely courteous, respectful, and professional couple, from whom I have been very happy to rent. Per their rules, smoking is not permitted in the house, and pets are not allowed.

If you are interested in taking a tour of the house, I will be more than happy to meet with you. If you have any questions that you would like to ask to the landlord or myself, please feel free to send me a PM.

Thank you,
Antonio Ceccato

So is there a good place to go riding near kettleman?

I am planning to got for a ride with a friend of mine who lives in so-cal. We wnt to find someplace to ride that is somewhere in the middle of S.F. and L.A.

I do a lot of long distance trail riding over pretty nasty terrian..I am really sick of getting flats..I am thinking about foam inserts...tire balls are to frigging expensive..

anybody run foam inserts ?

what do you think of them?

Apparently you are supposed to use michelin tires with the bib mousse insert. I imagine that this is just michelins way of selling more tires. nant body run mousse inserts without using michelin tires???

hiya,

so I dont know anything about it like how much it costs
what bikes to get, can you try it without buying a bike
first? Im athletic and I do a lot of crazy things like
flying trapeze and jumping horses over 4' fences and
kiteboarding. well, I dont ride horses anymore but anyways.
Oh, and i have done a little BMX flatland stuff too.

Anyway, can anyone advise me? Or should I just drop by
that Club Moto track sometime?

Thanks

hi...

well i'm a total novice at this. i've been riding a whole 3 times. once on a 50 and the last two times on a 1984 yamaha it 200.

i frustrated the hell out of my firend. he has been riding a while and did it as a kid so he knows what to do...me i'm lost.
and trying to follow him up and down hills on the trail was tough.
...oh and not sure if a hilly trail is a good thing to learn on
... i must be an idiot because my friend Chris says i should either have it down now or i just don't want or care to learn...

i don't know when to shift into other gears.
how can i give it more gas smoothly
how can i feel in more or feel like i have any control of the bike?
how might i gain the ability and confidence

i'm not a quitter and i can learn...

but lets just hope i'm not asking all this too late....

thanks

I have been riding dirt bikes for years. It wasn't until i purchased the BEAST that I realized a dirt bike can produce so much brute power and scary fast speed. The bike will blow away any 250 off the line. I produces 58HP and 48.5lbs of torque.
This bike is not for novice riders! You need alot of upper body strenght and agility to handle this monster. I have ridden some of my friends 4 strokes, and although they are smooth and fast, they just don't provide the thrill of a monster two stroke! Its a shame that Honda stopped making them, and have replaced it with the CRF450. I guess in todays world of couch potatoes, this bike was too much for the average rider! I would like to hear from anyone else who has ridden a CR500 or CRF450. What do you think of The BEAST!

I like the idea of a nimble,light,4stroke bike like crf250x. Anybody out there riding one? I have good and bad things...good things about performance but...bad things about the valves going bad...

oh yeah,

There is a little Hare Scramble next weekend at Hollister Hills. Kinda small, pretty fun, much less intense than a Dist 36 event. I'll probably be there.

http://www.hhora.org/events.html

And the following weekend is a race at Pismo Beach. Yep, you heard me, Pismo is having a race. Also a Hare Scramble format, 90 minute races, and also a 3 hour team race where you can have up to 4 riders. Sounds like a lot of fun.

AfterShocks Thursday rides start July 1st!!

Ok, the Thursday dirtbiking rides are FINALLY starting next week on July 1st. We will be at Metcalf at around 4pm. Even if Phil ends up not being able to go and/or Devin doesn't get his bike put together on time, I already told them that Rachel and I are still going without them.

If anyone wants to look for us there, I will have my burgundy '96 Tacoma there. I can't guarantee what other vehicles will be there, so just look for mine. There's nothing very distinguishing about it, but there is a small black and yellow AfterShocks sticker on the left side of my rear bumper, and my rear license plate frame says "100% Slug" (no Greg, that's SLUG, not LUG!!)

Hope to see some of you there!! If you let me know that you're planning to go, we'll keep an eye out for you as well.

Is anyone going to Club moto to practice tonight. I am always looking for a friend when I am there due to going alone straight from work. I like to have someone around that can assist getting my broken butt in the truck if I do in fact break my butt. I am still getting the suspension dialed in and learning on the new bike so a big crash is not out of the question. If anyone goes on a regular basis on Tues. or Thurs. nights let me know.

This past Saturday, a 12-year-old kid was killed at Hollister while practicing on the MX track for the Mutant races the following day. Apparently, he stalled, or got sideways, or something, and a few other kids came over a jump and landed on him. His parents were there and saw the whole thing happen. Such a tragedy.

(My apologies if any of the details are inaccurate, I heard this from a guy who came into the shop who was at Hollister at the time it happened.)

Look for my Silver Dodge 2500 with sponsor stickers on the window of the shell. I will have my Yellow RM125 and my TTR125 on a small flat bed trailer.

Who wants to come out and play this Sunday. I'm planning to head down in the morning and hooking up with a couple friends for some riding. Get in a little practice at Hollister before the National Hare Scramble later in the month.

Who's going to SF Supercross ??

Drop me a note if you want to meet up Sunday, or for SX.

BTW, Hangtown last Sunday was a rutty, muddy mess. It finally got ridable in the afternoon, although sections of the track were still slimy and slippery. And some of those ruts were downright intimidating!

So if you live there let me know, maybe we can hook up and go riding!
