I've got a 2001 YZ426F. I know Creech has all manner of dirt bikes both big and small, old and young. Let's hear about what everyone has..

im actually looking at KX 125's. i would rather have a 250 but that might get a little big for me considering im 5'5 and i want to be able to have plenty of control for trailing

April, some advice if you would like it. Unless you are buying a brand spanker KX i would lean more towards a honda or yamaha because until recently KX's are VERY hard to steer (kind of like trying to do a U-turn in a Mac truck with no power steering...). Even after adjusting the fork rake it doesn't help. Hondas and Yamahas both steer very responsively, even Suzuki's are better than KX (although with the merger between kawasaki and suzuki, they seemed to have fixed this in the latest models). So I would go for one of the top 2, depending on which you prefer. I personally prefer Hondas as they have better brakes, especially on the front. (Actually the 'copyright' thing (forget the name) on the honda front brake routing ran out this year and other brands are now free to use it but yamaha missed the opportunity to improve their bike...) I think Suzuki got on the band wagon though...
Unless you are a full on gun on a bike (which you may well be!) I would not bother wasting your money on a 250 2 stroke, there is no need for it (a 250 generally sits a little lower than a 125, but i can barely touch the ground on either!). You may want to consider a 250 4 stroke though, like a YZF250 or CRF 250, they are easier to ride than a 2 stroke (and less taxing on your arms) and have good down low power for hills etc if you're going to be trail riding. For motocross they are good too, still easier to ride, but because you are a shorty like me (5'6) you will more than likely have trouble starting it without something to stand on (or choose the electric start WRF250 which also has longer gearing). Or even a CRF 230 which is shorter in height. I can offer more info for you if you like, anything you would like to know (or anyone else reading this), just message me.
Sorry for the novel everyone!!! :)

    Wow, I'm a slacker here.

Yeah, I got a mess of bikes I pretend to know how to ride.

    02 XR650R (presently motarded)
    01 XR400
99 KTM 620SX (motard race bike)
    03 CRF230 (Woman's bike)
    84 XR200 ratbike (her's as well.)

Of course my Soul Sucking job has prevented me from any dirt riding this year, Jeff blew up my 400 <j/k> and now that race season is nearly upon us, I'm scrambling to get the new SV650 and CBR400rr ready for AFM joy.

I really should play hookey and go dirt riding...

    Hi there

I'm new to dirt bikes, having just spent last weekend out at Ocotillo Wells (fun, but HAAAARD work), but here's my (small, beginner's) list:

    '95 YZ125 (my fiancee's bike)
'98 RM250 (was hers, but it was too big/fast for her so it's mine for now)
'86 KX500 (been a six-year project, but back together now and MUCH too much bike for me until I get much more skillful)

and just to keep things really silly, we have a crazy six-wheeled Polaris ATV thingy bought for $100 from a cop in LA.

I've got DIRT printed on one hand guard & EATER on the other.
I fall a lot. Yup, dirt biking's fun. Ouch.
I really need a thumper fer the kind of trail riding I do...

Okay I’m riding since I’m 16 now late 30’s (sheesh when that happen?) I digress.

I have two sons 6 & 8 respectively. They both are riding since they are 4.

My little guy gots the PW-50 and the bigger one the TTR-90.

The little guy is gonna be trouble as he already flaws the throttle and it’s not fast enough for him.

We are doing a huge bike weekend memorial day. I just sit on the sidelines now with my video cam & the two-way radio. Life is good.

Just got a new off the showroom floor 2002 Suzuki DRZ-400(Kickstart) about 3 months ago. It has been street legalized(you can still do that here in AZ).

I've had so much fun with it in the dirt, it's on the street where you gotta watch out for SUV's. I can't wait until I can ride it again. The insurance company has sent the check, but they left some of the parts off the list. My body still hurts, but I've got a jones to ride soo bad. Unfortunately I doubt that I'll be able to do any dirt riding for a while. It hurts just sitting on the couch.

Alright.. just adding to it I guess...
I have an xr200 honda.. I'm 5'2" (chick) and I love it. Super squish suspension and I love pretty difficult trails.. its taken me through just about every terrain I can think of smoothly except for gravel. The bike I'm on in my bio picture is my old ttl200 honda.. that little trails bike was awesome but I had to fix something every other time I rode because I took it on trails too much. It also didn't utilize the power that I needed for longer hill climbs.

I just bought two weeks ago a 1997 YZ250, I know its a little older, but I am on a budget, and this bike with a little work I have done already(brakes, rebuild suspension, replace shifter, added barkbusters, new grips, replaced oil drain plug, oil check bolt, added new airfilter and a few other things). I also had to buy all new safety gear, helmet, boots, goggels and such and am under 1600$ still. runs good, and is getting me back in the game.
